The 25 best times to vacation in South Padre Island (2024)

Isla Grand Beach Resort is a laid-back beachfront resort on South Padre Island, offering modest quarters and a relaxing atmosphere. The expansive property features over 10 acres of tropical landscape, two outdoor pools, sand volleyball courts, hot tubs, and live entertainment. With comfortable rooms and affordable rates, it's an ideal place to enjoy the beautiful white sand beaches and clear blue waters of the Texas Gulf Coast.

Jesus was able to accommodate our early check in a room with a fantastic view! He was super patient, professional and helpful.I loved the view. The room was very comfortable, the bathroom was clean. Every thing smelled fresh, not musty like old hotels get near water. The bartenders were super friendly and a lot of fun.The band, Area Code, was the best! My legs hurt for two days after dancing all night long.Disliked · Our room did not have a "Do not disturb" sign.I didn't care for the food at the restaurant. I would have liked to seen higher quality healthy options. It was $20 per chair for the beach. I think $10 per chair is much more reasonable, especially if you're not using it all day.

My girlfriends and I stayed for 5 nights to celebrate a birthday. We mistakenly did not read the reviews before booking and I truly wish we had. We unfortunately had terrible weather the entire time but made the best of it. We booked directly through the hotel and paid in full up front. Here are some pros and cons we discovered along the way.Pros:The property has 2 pools, hot tubs, outdoor bar and snack barThe view/proximity to the beach is greatOur condo was nicely decorated but I understand that each condo is different and we may have gotten luckyCons:Housekeeping needed to be called everyday for fresh towelsThe cleanliness of unit was sub par when we arrived. Dirty towels left in the bathroom upon arrival. Counters dirty. Some dishes in the cabinet were dirty. We didn't have kitchen towels in the unit when we arrived. The first day we arrived back to the condo after running to the store we found we had no water. Called the front desk to find out the water had been turned off after a pipe burst and it would be 1-2 hours (which was later retracted and turned to 3 hours). I asked if someone was bringing water so we could at least flush the toilets and I was told they didn't have big enough buckets and we needed to just wait it out. They also lied and claimed they tried to call several times to notify us but there was no message. There was no apology or attempt to compensate us due to the inconvenience.Upon arriving to the resort it was noted that there was construction occurring throughout the resort. We were never notified of this when we booked. The construction began at 8am every morning and ended at 5:30pm every evening. There was extremely loud hammering and banging all day. When asked if there was construction all weekend we were told no which was a lie as the construction continued both Saturday and Sunday. Again, no apology or any move to give any proper customer service for a guest. The unit lacked supplies such as enough silverware or pillowcases. There was no information in the unit for surrounding activities or restaurants. For nightly entertainment reserved tables were for owners only. That left only a few tables open for the rest of us.The hot water only lasted for 1 shower so we had to stagger showers to ensure we had enough hot water.Description of room lacked details about what was provided. We had to search the pictures to see what was in the unit.

My stay is not happening until summer, but my booking experience was phenomenal. Alisha was awesome! She made the reservation with a happy, healthy attitude. Accommodating all the way through the phone call, covering every detail with a professional and respectful tone of voice. Vacation planning can be difficult, but with every question I had, she had a very patient, and thorough response. If our stay at Isla Grand Beach Resort is anything like our booking experience it is going to be a fantastic stay!Thank you Alisha.

Location is great! The beach is clean and was not over crowded. Hotel takes great lengths to make sure non-resort people do not access the amenities. All the staff have been really nice and helpful. With that said, the rooms are incredibly over priced. Our room had dust built up in cabinet and wall crevices. I killed a cockroach in my room and the front desk staff did not know what to do. The pools did not appear the cleanest, and I was served a drink with black floater in it with a hair sticking out of it. My drink was replaced with no charge; however, that should not have happened. Will not be returning.

For the price of the resort it's reasonable. The outside structure needs a little care. The room itself was updated but had carpet stains, door frame was broken cracked in half. Shower head was horrible. The pool and beach access was fantastic. Bar was reasonably priced. You cannot bring a cooler inside the pool area. Isla pHrand provided live music during the day as well in the evenings. We did eat at the Windjammer. Service was horrible we were the only people in there the lady was rude the entire time. Food was not great. Definitely would not go back wayyyy over priced.

Nice place needs a massive update. We booked our reservations in February for 2 rooms. Arrived on Thursday Sept 12 booked early so we could get the rooms we wanted, first level just behind the tennis courts. When we arrived we were told there were no rooms in that area avaliable, Because they had some over stays. Throughout our stay we noticed that the rooms were not being used. We wanted first floor rooms because we knew we were going to be carrying our chairs and beach supplies daily to the beach in a wagon and its heavy to be carrying it up and down the narrow stairs. The employee at the front desk was not very helpful, we told him if you have over stays and we booked and requested a specific room for the dates we were going to stay there shouldn't WE have preference for those rooms. What makes it worse was my wife tried calling ahead seveal times to confirm our rooms but the front desk would not answer. We are planning another trip next year not sure if we want to stay here. We love the location and how the resort is set up just not happy with how were were treated this last time there.

We loved this resort. Great location close to everything. Nice pool and court yard area. We were just steps from the beach which is exactly what we wanted. I recommend staying in the 2 story building which are close to the beach. Yeah they may not be as nice as the tower but they were built in the 50's. The proximity to the pool and beach was so close and the view from the balcony overlooked the courtyard and beach. Pool bar was a fun area and the live music in the hotel bar/night club was fun as well. We would defiantly stay here again.

They would have gotten 5 stars if they didn't charge for the umbrellas and chairs that are already on the beach... they have an attendant there with umbrellas and chairs sitting on the beach, but you only get them if you pay $40 cash to use one umbrella and 2 chairs for the day. Even though nobody else is using them. There is no mention of this on their website or when scheduling. The hotels on our left and right of the beach both had plenty of umbrellas and chairs set up for their guests on the beach... making me wonder why this hotel is the only one that is charging for it. We were also locked out of our hotel because the key card stopped working, which is a bit of a pain since there are no elevators and we're on the second floor. Besides that, a beautiful hotel and a great experience. We absolutely loved our room (although, please note there is no microwave) and the views are amazing. The pool is beautiful. There are volleyball courts and shuffle boards present, but it appears that the items needed to utilize these amenities are either not accessible, or you have to pay for them just like the umbrellas. Volleyball I could see, people may need to just bring their own ball which isn't a big deal, but who the heck has shuffle board equipment on them?? While I loved my stay, it is these things that I believe they should make you aware of online, in a conformation email, or even when you show up, but for example it is most inconvenient to be told you needed $40 cash if you wanted to use an umbrella or chair after already bringing your stuff to the beach all the way from the room. Now that you know what to expect, go book yourself a room!

Absolutely love this place! It has two beautiful pools, a yummy restaurant and several bars onsite to choose from. I can't believe the indoor bar is open super late on weekends!Upon checking in, the front desk agents were super nice and accommodating and I felt so welcomed. They explained all the fun things to do at the resort like live entertainment and dinner specials. They even let me walk around the property even before my room was ready and held onto my bags. My only issue with was the walk to the beach, it can take a while but it was totally worth it! It's not like most places that do not have a view at all. I'll definitely stop by again for my next vacation. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!

My Daughters and I took off on a last-minute beach trip to South Padre after I was allowed a three-day weekend from work. We booked a home through an online site that turned out to be a scam. So I called Isla Grand on a wing and a prayer (it's a holiday weekend we had a slim chance of finding a place so late) and whoever answered was great, they were friendly and accommodating and we booked a condo! Either this was meant to be or it's a dive that no one wanted to book (what were my thoughts)As luck would have it, my car broke down on the highway halfway there. It was the alternator (it had to be towed and everything). So we missed the first night I booked the room at 8 pm and we broke at 10 so we had to stay overnight in the car. I called the hotel to beg them for forgiveness for no-showing and add a day because my car would be in the shop for four days.I spoke to Sabrina, I was very overwhelmed and discouraged. Sabrina was WONDERFUL. She held a conversation with me as if she knew me, and wanted to help me.She followed up when she said she would (she actually called me back when she said she would). She helped us get settled, and feel at ease. This was HUGE for me this weekend since I work a LOT & this weekend meant the world to me and my kids.We checked in and it was GREAT. The rooms were clean and well-organized. There was construction so the balcony was blocked off (which was a bummer) and it was a bit loud (parties traffic and some noise from construction) the hotel noise that kept us awake were the people above us moving furniture and being loud (I didn't report it because everything else was good and we worked around it).My shower was clogged (wouldn't drain) but they sent a repair guy quickly so that was no issue. The full kitchen was amazing and we cooked dinner in (saved some $)The beach was clean, and the view from our room was breathtaking (if only we could open the window/we couldn't because of construction). The location is perfect.I spoke to Miguel the manager to let him know what outstanding customer service I had received from Sabrina, and HE was equally as welcoming and warm as she was. What a relief!Very professional, but so caring and so personable (this type of customer care is not "standard" in a lot of places).By the second day on the beach, I was feeling happy again.Thank you to everyone who helped us and made a difficult situation easier. You are appreciated more than you know!!

This property shows its age, as most do on SPI, but still worth the costs. We chose a room near the nightclub and did not regret it. The bass we heard was minimal. The band's performance was phenomenal! People were on the dance floor for each of their sets.🤩 You can check-in early at no additional charge if your room is prepped. We were lucky enough to get in by 11:45. The room was very clean. The beach was lovely. No seaweed or litter. Umbrellas are available. There are several spots on the property for food and drinks with breakfast and dinner buffets. The main restaurant's AC was broken. VERY uncomfortable and disappointing. There's a gift shop in the lobby that's worth a visit before you hit the others in town. There's some construction going on, renovations, but the 'noise' wasn't bothersome at all and began after 9. The pools are not as large as expected and needed some shock immediately, but there's plenty of chairs, the deck was spotless, and the drinks are NOT watered down. We're definitely going back this summer.

I’ve been coming here for years, but as time has gone by, it’s so sad to see how bad this hotel is getting. We brought our family here from out of town because we wanted to share the experience with them and it was their first time visiting South Padre. Immediately the first night one of the rooms had roaches in it. There were also so many issues with the rooms itself, but not to mention the appearance of the hotel, in general is not being kept up with. I wish Management would do some thing or the owners of this property. You’re losing clientele! We paid a lot of money to stay here, as usual, but I can clearly see now that it is no longer worth it. I paid less at a four seasons, and definitely got my money’s worth. we paid close to $3000 for a suite for two bedrooms. I will definitely rethink staying here again. We may just visit to hang out the Quarterdeck which is a pretty cool bar if you want to have drinks and go dancing but other than that I will not be coming back unless there’s a change but from what I can see there’s a lot of work that needs to be done and it’s gotten worse. Another issue is the restaurant… the staff is not as friendly, the food is OK & it’s $20 for buffet breakfast or dinner. they have it so dark and dimmed in there. It almost feels like their lighting is not working. Not a good idea to have people eating in the darkness. We can’t even see our food! We asked why It was so dark and they said it was too give an ambience of a romantic dinner, which was not the case. Sad to see this hotel going down. I can keep my good memories. Not coming backHere sadly. Thank you to Michael the manager for being so accommodatingTo us!!!

My wife and I stayed here last Saturday and Sunday, nice hotel....yes it is an older hotel but they seem to take care of things, our room was nice and we had a view of pool area. Nice having a Starbuck on-site. We ate at the restaurant one afternoon food was good and drinks were cheaper that we thought. Had a nice view of the pool from our window table. We would stay here again.

Terrible experience here. Booked the hotel specifically for the pools and hot tubs, but when we arrived, the hotel check-in attendant informed us that one pool of two pools was closed for maintenance. We asked if the hot tubs would still be open and we were told yes, though that was not the case. The hot tubs were also drained and closed. Then, two nights into our stay, we came back to our hotel room to find an overwhelming smell of toxic fumes like paint thinner. It was so terrible that even after having the patio and front door open for an hour, it was still so thick that it burnt our throats. It was an unsafe environment. The hotel front staff offered us a downgraded room in lieu, that was literally a room with a view of a brick wall. Terrible experience. Unsafe experience.

Enjoyed the stay, delicious food, great variety of cocktail drinks, short walk to the beach, loved the bar by the pool! And can’t forget, our evening at Quarter Deck with LIVE music, dancing with friends and hanging out with Channel 5”s, one and only, Top Meteorologist Mr Tim Smith! ☔️🌧️ ☀️

This resort was wonderful when we first checked in. Unfortunately that is where our experience came to a close. Our room AC never fell below 75 (condo room). We moved rooms 3 x and never experienced anything but excuses from the front desk. The “manager” was never around to talk to. When we did talk to someone we got a very defensive antagonistic, combative behavior. Sabrina does not know how to handle a situation with a level head. I would not recommend you spend $400 a night to stay at this hotel.

I have stayed at many places in SPI and I must say that Isla Grand was the best so far from check in to check out! I had a late night check in and was greeted with a kind smile and complete professionalism. I know sounds like that's the way it should be, but it's often not the case at other places. This place has it ALL! The perfect playground for children and adults of all ages! The pool is gorgeous and a great place to relax and grab a drink at the Whiskey Shack while soaking up the sun. It's the perfect environment to meet and have conversations with other guests while getting recommendations from the bartenders for places to visit and things to do while visiting the island. Speaking of bartenders, make sure to stop by the Half Deck for an EXCEPTIONAL Espresso Martini made with Goodnight Loving Vodka! After a day on the beautiful beach that is literally steps away from the pool enjoy singing and dancing the night away Upstairs at the Quarter Deck! The bands and the nightly entertainment are not only entertaining but really good!Isla Grands rooms did not disappoint either! The room was spacious and very clean and the beds were comfy with plenty of pillows. I highly recommend this place for all, you can't go wrong!

Have not yet been, but already the service was excellent. I had made reservations for my friends and I to have a birthday get away at the resort. I didn't realize that the room was a second story cabana (so beautiful) but my friend is in a wheelchair and the cabana did not have access for her. Oh no!!! So I quickly called and asked if there was anything that could be done for us without too much havoc. John from the reservation department was so kind and caring, he assured us that he would find something that would suit our needs. Within 5 minutes we got a new room on the first floor (just like our first) and there were no extra fees or cost involved. So amazing and stress-free. As mentioned, haven't had the chance to visit yet, but with this wonderful customer service/care I feel that we will be in great care and just can't wait for our vacation!!!

This was our first time staying at the Isla Grand. We loved our Garden View Cabana. It's a great room when staying with pets! The pool and jacuzzi area is awesome, and the beach is only a few steps away. If there were a microwave in the room, the stay would be even better! The Quarterdeck Lounge has great music, and sports. Great location, and close enough to everything else on the island!

We love this hotel! I recently had the pleasure of working with John at reservations and he was amazing from start to finish. Super helpful and gave us a great price for 2 condos. Excited to get down there for our vacation and to work with him again in the future!

The rooms are not as advertised, our room had stains that looked like blood, the lock was faulty and completely stopped working on the last night. The main hotel that is advertised is not what you get you’re on the side in motel type rooms no couch with a bed pull out the beds are small and pulled away from the wall, our room needs a thorough deep clean. The railing on the walkway is pulling away from the structure, our balcony railing was rotted one piece was broken from the rot. Ocean view is actually a view of the tennis court and sand dunes. We left our cooler outside the fence gate for the pool as there was a sign to not bring it in and we had just come from the beach (mind you it had water and Gatorade for us and the kids no alcohol) and an employee came up and said it’s not allowed not even allowed on the premises. When leaving my husband tried to put a little ice in it to get us home (not filling it just a little) and was told that’s not allowed. The pools were hot all day. There is construction going on in the parking lot that was not mentioned as well. Several people we ran into had the same complaints. We will never stay at this place again. Staff was hit or miss on hospitality. The only good thing was the room got cold.

The pro: Very short walk to the beach from the hotel. The con: You can tell this is a hotel from the early 90's.We stayed in one of the apartments on the top floor. It had great views, and the fact that we had our own kitchen saved us a lot of money in meals. However, the apartment is in need of TLC. The only TV that worked was the one in the living room, despite all rooms having a TV. After a long day at the beach, it would have been nice to have the kids relax watching a movie in their room.

Isabel A — Google review

The rooms are very run down. You are asked to wear a wrist band to prove that you are a guest while two homeless men were sleeping near our room. The bathroom was not acceptable. The bathtub looked very dirty, the faucet almost came out of the wall while turning on the shower. We had a power outage and was without power for hours. The entire so called resort smelled of sewage. I would not waste my money here again. It is definitely not worth the cost. I have stayed at Motel 6 that were much nicer than this place. Don't accept the pool towel cards. They will charge you 25.00 for each if you don't turn them in. I'm not even how they call this place a resort. It's a run down motel at best.

Barbie T — Google review

The amenities were nice. The pool while pretty foggy were nice, although the regular pool and the heated pool felt the same temperature. It was a nice easy walk to the beach. I stayed 3 nights in a 1 room hotel. And encountered 3 roaches and a few other bugs in the room. The rooms weren't terrible but still really disappointing to have to deal with roaches for the price we paid. We had our trash taken out every day but our towels replaced only once and they didn't even replace all of them. Our bed was also only made once. Hotel did not have a microwave but did have a mini fridge. The freezer cooled enough to freezer water but our icecream melted. Also the lights buy the bed were unable to turn on in our room.

We returned to our room on Friday night to find water everywhere in the kitchenette area. Our ac drain was clogged and it was a mess. I called down to the front desk and they sent maintenance to come look at it. This was 10:30 at night. He worked on it for a few minutes and then he left. There was a language barrier because he didn’t speak And our Spanish was not great. My husband did ask him if he was done and he said yes. Then at 11 o’clock there was a knock on the door and he was back again a lot of noise and this time we asked him again if he was done and he said yes. While he was there, I attempted to call down to the front desk again because by this time I was fairly irritated and nobody answered the phone, but his the maintenance guys phone rang, and he told him that he was in our room that much we could understand. So this time we thought for sure was done. It was 1130 at night, but no about 10 minutes later after we had already dressed and gotten in bed he comes back with another guy. They never offered to move us to another room. These two guys finished fixing the room around midnight. The next morning, my husband got up to get a shower said it was lukewarm and when I got up to get my shower, there was no hot water. I went down to the front desk and asked for the manager and spoke to Michael and he was kind enough to comp us the room for Friday night, However, instead of saying, he would send maintenance to go check on the hot water issue. He just told us that we needed to let the water run for 5 to 7 minutes and we would have hot water. So when we got back to our room on Saturday night once again, we had no hot water called down to the front desk and they sent a maintenance guy. He messed with the breaker and then we had hot water. The next morning when we got up, we had to let the water run for about 20 minutes before we got hot water. This is a very nice resort and we have stayed here for years. This is the first time I’ve had these types of issues and I was very disappointed in the service and the fact that they did not offer to move us to another room after all of the issues that we had had.

Stayed 3 nights, 4 days with 11 friends for girls weekend. From the moment we arrived the service was amazing! Everyone was very helpful and friendly! Beautiful grounds and comfortable rooms. We had an amazing day on the beach and so many fun times at the pools and hot tabs! The night entertainment was good and the restaurants were delicious. And the turbo pina coladas where the best! We wish we were still there. Until next time, thanks for all the wonderful memories. Barb' birthday girls weekend 2024!!

Beach front room. Sliding doors barely open. Can't see much because windows are so stained. All needs updating. Cracked sink in bathroom, furnishings way used, amature repairs done everywhere. Facilities run down. One ice machine for the entire complex worked. Ac and wifi did work well. Nice beach access. Had to ask for even partial room service. Not worth the price we paid.

Location is amazing! We stayed there for 3 nights. The hotel is old and unkept. The lobby walking towards the pool smells like sewage. Housekeeping was poor. They only emptied trash and called it a day. Also, our TV still didn't work even after calling maintenance. The room looks nice at first but then started to see broken down details. The saving grace, beds are extremely comfortable. The restaurant on site had great service and view. The wait for food took long but since we were on vacation, we didn't mind too much.Overall, hotel is closer to 3 stars until housekeeping and maintenance improves.

This place has gone completely down hill. It’s a shame. I have been coming here for decades and the past few years this place has just gotten filthier and filthier. There is food slung on the walls, rotten and molded wood, hair everywhere. It’s sad because the amenities here are good! The food, the bars and pool are all average- and kept up with, but the rooms- the ones they have “redone” are so nasty. There needs to be serious maintenance done at this property. Because it has not been kept up with- it needs to be completely redone. Unfortunately I cannot stay here any more- this has now been the second time this year where I have had a bad experience. This has always been an old property- but has always been clean- it is no longer that. This is a two star hotel and the star rating is deceiving and needs to be removed.

Sure, the hotel is an older building. However, it is well-maintained, and the staff does a pretty good job of keeping everything updated. If you get a beach access room, the beach is no more than a 5 to 10-minute walk. The pool is also well maintained and was very clean when we used it.They have a fireworks show on Thursday nights, so that was definitely a treat. We did not care for the food in the restaurant on the property, but we were there for a place to rest our heads and easy access to the beach. So overall, it was a great stay, and I would highly recommend it.

The front desk concierge, Samantha, was exceptionally patient and helpful. The way she delegated three costumers at once is amazing. I highly recommend The Isla for your stay in South Padre. The property offers a beautiful view, a well-maintained pool with reasonably priced bar services, and is conveniently located just steps away from the beach. It is also within walking distance of various dining options, attractions, and a liquor store which is a plus! The rooms are well-appointed and spacious, particularly the condominiums. I will definitely be returning!

About a 3 star experience, at best, and not a good value for the cost. Place is outdated and needs repairs and updating. Pool area was nice and it's an easy walk to the beach. Food and beverage was good, but pricey.

This resort is outstanding. Edward was very, very helpful, professional, and kind at the front desk. The pools are great. The private beach is clean and not crowded. The rooms and service staff were very nice. Overall, it was a great experience. I didn't want to leave!

I would not stay here. It is not safe.Pros: 1. quick walk to the beach2. Beach staff renting chairs were friendly and helpful3. Pool is nice with a bar nearbyCons: 1. door to room would not lock from the outside without great effort and this effort was not given by hotel staff, so we would return to find our door visibly open every day the housekeepers came.2. Maintenance workers were smoking weed in corners of property in uniform3. Ice machines don't work. We were told to ask bartender at pool. He was only "allowed" to give us one cup of ice.4. There are so many problems that the staff doesn't really know how to fix and you can see the exasperation.

This so-called "resort" is really just a glorified motel. When booking through a third-party site, there was no indication that the rooms are separate from the main building, which they refer to as condos. Outside the main hotel, there are two older, run-down buildings they refer to as "cabanas," which were both dirty and outdated. The walls were extremely thin, and our sliding door wouldn't fully close, allowing noise from all sides to seep in. The "beach view" they advertised was misleading—you couldn't see it from the room at all. You had to step outside and walk a few steps to catch the slightest glimpse. Instead, our room overlooked a building and some scattered chairs. My husband went to the front desk to request a room change, and the initial response was rude and dismissive. After calling again, we spoke to someone more accommodating and managed to get moved to the second floor, where we finally had a decent beach view. However, I was so turned off by the overall cleanliness that I didn’t bother checking out the restaurant or pool. Save your money and stay somewhere reputable. This place is a dump.

Stayed there last week and had a horrible experience. I have called several times and have sent multiple emails to the Manager Javier and GM Mr. Martinez and have yet to receive a call back or a reply. My family and I checked in on Thursday, on Friday the toilet overflowed along with feces coming out of the tub. The toilet was replaced only for this to occur again a few hours later. They gave a slight discount for Friday but when the problem occurred again on Saturday, nothing was done. As of today a week later I have yet to receive any response. Horrible management. Will not stay here again. Better hotels on the island than this.

We rented a 2 bedroom condo and stayed on the 11th floor. It was fabulous and decorated and furnished nicely. Very comfortable. Great view of the ocean and when you walk out you can see the bay on the other side of your condo so views in both directions. It was clean and not smelly like other reviews said...no carpet to hold any smells. Pool was fine they cleaned it each morning to get out palm tree leaves. The pool area feels tropical as its landacaping is lined by palm trees. Tennis and pickle ball was so much fun. Walking distance to many eating choices. I was worried about other reviews but glad I came! But we also missed the wild spring break crowd. The bar tender showed us a video of the college spring break 1st 3 weeks of March is wild no chairs at the pool area...all standing room only.

I recently had a troubling experience at the Isla Grand, which was marred by a significant lack of responsiveness from the staff and security. During a night at the bar, a family member was unexpectedly pushed and assaulted by another guest. Despite the severity of the situation, neither the bar staff nor security intervened or took any action to address the incident. This lack of support and concern was deeply disappointing and concerning. It undermined the safety and enjoyment that one would expect from a reputable establishment. The absence of appropriate measures and intervention left me feeling vulnerable and unprotected. It's crucial for any venue, especially one of this caliber, to have effective and responsive security measures in place to handle such incidents promptly and ensure the well-being of all guests.

DIRTY DIAPER IN BED SHEETS!!!As we were leaving our two-night stay, I pulled the bed sheets off and to my horror found a dirty diaper stuffed into the bed. We thought the room smelled funny the whole time, but to realize we had been sleeping with a dirty diaper made us feel disgusting. We told the front desk and management told us they inspect every room prior to new guest arrival, so implied they didn’t believe us and asked us to send pictures and a video. We are still waiting for a resolution. The ONLY good thing about this place was the location near the beach. That’s it.

Honestly such an amazing week vacation! This will be our 3rd time coming for a vacay trip and it doesn’t disappoint.Check in was so smooth, staff was respectful and nice, bartenders were amazing with their drinks, security guards are always making sure the atmosphere is safe, housekeepers are doing their best to get the rooms done, the servers at the buffet area are so attentive and greet full especially Martin when we ate breakfast! Such a sweet server! They had a Thunderstruck theme on Thursday at 9pm during the Clay Underwood concert 🎶, and boy was it amazing he sang so good! Despite the rain coming it was such an amazing stay. What is such an amazing deal is the hotel has a private beach access from the hotel to the beach directly. It also has a water hose to wash down the sand, We loved that!Honestly the pool, gym, and beach access was such an amazing deal for the price we paid! It’s worth every penny cause time can be wasted so quick.Thank you for an amazing time!!!

Upon arriving at the Isla Grand Beach Resort, you are immense in the pure beauty of the hotel. The hotel is an older hotel, as you can tell by the interior and decor that is throughout the hotel area. I was immediately greeted upon my arrival, which is a huge plus as it shows they care about their guests.Upon arriving at my room, the room was clean and well set up. I was a bit disappointed as there was no microwave in the room. My room had a patio facing towards the two pools the hotel has. The pillows were small, but since I had two beds, I was able to get comfortable. My second night there, I was greeted by ants. I'm not a fan of ants, and I did let the front desk know. After arriving back to my room later that day, the ants seemed to have multiple. Talked to the front desk, and after our conversation, I was moved to another room. The second room was clean and very similar to the original room I had.I liked that the hotel had its own access to the beach. Simple walk, and you're there viewing the ocean and able to get in. When I got into the beach water, it was fresh and warm. After the beach adventure, I went into their "heated pool." The pool water was definitely colder than the ocean water. The first pool they had, that watter appeared to be much warmer than their heated pool. In the heated pool, there were missing tiles along the pool and cracks. Didn't stay long in the pool. The hotel does have two bars located inside, a gift shop, and a pool side bar. I didn't use any, so I can not comment on the bars.Overall, I enjoyed my stay, and the friendly staff helped out so much. I definitely want to go again, but this time, instead of doing a business trip, do it as a personal trip. I love the brick path the hotel has outside to get to the rooms.

My husband and I stayed here for four nights. This was our first time at this resort. It’s honestly an “average” hotel. I think the price of staying here per night is a little much for the quality of the rooms and service, at this point you’re paying for the location.Pros:-The location of the resort is perfect. It’s very close to the entertainment district and the beach access is really nice.-The shop inside the lobby is convenient if you don’t feel like running to the store if you forgot something. However, it is expensive.-The rooms are a decent size for two people-The free beach towel checkout is easy and very convenient-Having a balcony with two chairs was nice-Parking was never an issue at the resortCons:-The second you walk into the lobby, it smells like a gas station/port-a-potty-We were misled when our room was on the outside wing. Didn’t feel like we were staying in the actual hotel itself. Not a big deal but the pictures are very misleading unless you get the most expensive rooms.-The rooms are outdated. Looks like renter fixes inside the rooms. The shower head was just a nozzle, not an actual shower head.-Absolutely no microwave. Basically forcing you to go out and spend money on all food and not being able to take leftovers because you can’t heat them up.-Housekeeping was ANNOYING. The first two days we were there, they didn’t come at all. The last two days we were there, they came at 6pm and then 9am on our last day. We had to call to get clean towels and have our trash can emptied. Housekeeping was very inconsistent and very disappointing for a resort.-The food at the restaurant is way overpriced. The buffet was around $20 per person for breakfast which is a little ridiculous. Food at the restaurant is not very good for the price. You’re better off going to Yummies or somewhere else to eat.-If you are in the two story outside wing rooms, you have to lug your suitcase up the stairs. Not a super big deal, but was kind of annoying.-Felt very “nickle and dimey” here-The room we stayed in pretty much had no lighting other than the lamps but the bed and a super dim light by the bathroom. Not sure if we would stay here again. They need to make updates to the rooms outside and have better housekeeping to make it worth the amount they are charging.

Check-ins wasn’t as expected, told I was upgraded because the room we book wasn’t available (Reservation was beach view) given 1st floor with 80% cover of sand and 20% beach view; other than that beach area is pretty cool and clean with an easy walk to. Laundry was only available in 3 floors but need coins to run, it’s not complementary.

It was a nice little location. But for the price you pay, you would expect the rooms to be updated. The beds were lopsided and uncomfortable. The television tiny. We stuck it out as this was our last resort. But I'll do better research next time. We paid $1,000 for 3 nights. $25 a day for our dog also. Wasn't worth it.

Our stay at this hotel was disappointing. Check-in was delayed until 4:38 pm without prior notice. The restaurant experience was subpar, with dirty plates and cold food. The bed was uncomfortable and lopsided, clearly overaged and due for a new one. We left during the night due to these issues and the room cost nearly $400, total garbage for the money.

We stayed at the Isla Grand Beach Resort during Thanksgiving week, 2023. It was a much needed vacation for our little family and the short respite at this resort at the southernmost tip of Texas help rejuvenate us. The check-in process was easy and the front desk was detailed and attentive with explaining the layout of the land. I like that the resort has everything we needed: a restaurant, two bars plus a pool bar, a grand pool with hot tubs, a small gift shop and spectacular views. During our stay, we ate almost exclusively at the Windjammer Beachfront Cafe. Typical resort food, nothing spectacular, but all the meals and drinks we had were on point. We didn't have any complaints about the service. The room we stayed in definitely could use some modernization, as it was pretty dated with battle scars across the board. Overall we had a great time. The attached balcony allowed us to enjoy the view while sipping on a glass of wine as we unwind. The included internet access allows you to stay connected while at the beach and beach access is readily available and accessible throughout the resort. Our stay was considered off-season, so we did not experience any noise typical of resorts or children running around, making our short escape to SPI that much more enjoyable.

The young guys working in the front don’t care about customer service. The security guard was friendly, but the young guy with glasses and mustache had poor customer service. Cities need to stop hosting conferences here. Food served at the conference sucked. Front desk service sucked. Location is good, but not worth waiting all day for a room. Got locked out of my room at 7AM because the key card stopped working. Went to front desk and they took my 2 cards. The second pool is a heated pool, but front desk services refuse to turn on the second jacuzzi. Horrible experience dealing with children at the front desk. They need to hire adults or train them better. Room had ants.

Pretty disappointed in this ‘resort’. With it being one of the two resort style hotels on the island, I was hoping for a more up scale experience. Unfortunately this hotel is really outdated, the customer service was lacking, the two bedroom condo was dark and felt old. The reception did not have any bell service outside and when you walk in it felt muggy with an old type of smell to the lobby. The hotel staff wasn’t very friendly or welcoming at reception. The space felt drab. The pool area was decent although the water was already warm enough that it wasn’t refreshing. There is food and drinks you can go to order but no pool side service. The beach is right beyond the pool and tennis courts and is probably the only redeeming quality to this location. I absolutely would not come back. We ended up having to cut our stay short due to a tropical storm coming through and they did not offer any reimbursements. The island itself needs a heavy makeover to be more of a vacation hotspot.

It's a nice place but it's definitely dated. You can tell it's older. The staff was great and the food as well. However for the money we paid we should have paid a little more and stayed at Margaritaville.
