Walmart.ca - Verify Identity - PRESS & HOLD Problems?
Since Walmart instituted their latest (and quite bizarre) security measures this morning, I can no longer shop there using any of my browsers or computers.
Often when I load a product, it pops up a "Verify Your Identity" captcha page and you are asked to PRESS AND HOLD a button to get a Checkmark. I do this, I get the checkmark, but it pauses and then errors out with a "Please try again" error in red. Rinse and repeat this in an endless loop. And I've tried this on multiple browsers and computers, all with the same result - at some point I get the dreaded Captcha screen and I can't get out.
I have also noticed that many companies stupidly block IPs (home users share dynamic IPs), so I may have just got a bad Bell IP that some nimrod was hammering for a PS5. It also could be traffic-related, with the constant PS5 pinging and traffic overloading the Walmart captcha system.
Anyone else experiencing this?

ebay started doing something similar not long ago were they make u slide a puzzle piece in to the right spot. only guess i have is companies try to make sure a real person is logged in buying stuff vs someone using a bot to buy up high demand items?

Hey, I don't mind Captcha pages ASSUMING THEY ACTUALLY FUNCTION AS INTENDED, but as stated earlier, the Walmart page will not let you pass (due to bad design or overloaded traffic) and you literally have to log out and go back, then hope you don't hit that dreaded page again.

Just yesterday this failed for me in Firefox but worked in Chrome on the same computer. FF is my default and I have some privacy plugins installed, maybe that was the issue?

This block is popping up more and more often, and there doesn't seem to be any way to get by it once it latches onto your browser.
I'm going to reboot the modem to see if I can actually shop at Walmart.ca again.

I was having the same problem as OP. I disabled ad blocker in Chrome and it fixed the problem.

The adblocker in Chrome sounds like a possible solution for that browser, but I don't have ad blockers on either Firefox or Edge, and they still get hit with the Walmart Blockade.

This is 100% caused by ad blocking software.
The fact the ad blocker causes issues demonstrates that they are either using a marketing platform to verify you or trying to snoop info they shouldn't!

I've joined this club, adding walmart.ca to safe sites wasn't good enough, I had to completely uninstall uBlock Origin because I couldn't find an on/off feature.

If using chrome, you may have unpinned UO icon from your upper toolbar. You can always go into extensions and pin it back. Once you have the UO Red Shied icon, in there you should find the big ON/OFF button which you can use to toggle it on/off for the site you are on. Note that if you toggle it off then on again, those cookies that now Walmart has successfully written, remain cached until you delete them manually or if you have the option set to clear cache when you close your browser. (Meaning that if you toggle it off then on again, Walmart may still be able to read those cookies it stored when UO was off, and thus temporarily not bother with these verification attempts).
I don't have an account at Walmart, simply just click a link from a google product I might be searching and I get this Press/Hold crap until I toggle OU off. I don't know what they do, but UO reports up to 80-90 blocked attempts.
Likewise, you don't even need to have an Ad Blocker installed to get into this nonsense. All you need is to have cookies and maybe even 3rd party cookies disabled in you browser.

Just click on the UO icon at the top-right of the browser (or add it if it's not there) when you're surfing on Walmart.ca and then click the blue power icon to shut off ad-blocking on that site.
On a similar note, Best Buy is *really* starting to tick me off with their disappearing "Best Buy Only" slider in various sections - it happens all the time (especially in Gaming) and manually parsing through all the 3rd-party Marketplace junk gives me a freaking headache.
